Add Vermont to the List

of states that now allow gay marriage. An article here. Interestingly, the right comes subsequent to legislation, which was re-passed in spite of the Governor’s veto; meaning no court action. I don’t think it can get any better than that, the majority recognizing the importance of conferring a right they uncategorically enjoy on a minority.

I watched Milk, thanks to Netflix, a few weeks ago, and aside from it making me miss SF even more, I was moved by the timeliness of the film given precisely the gay marriage issue. Considering the impact Milk had on the gay rights movement in matters as basic as employment discrimination and respect for your fellow citizen, I can only wonder what impact he would have had on the issues today. I hope more people will see the film and be influenced by its message–assuming they wouldn’t already given the initial choice to watch the film in the first place.

Anyway, still waiting on the CA S.Ct.
